24th of July Children's Parade

My sister's neighborhood holds an annual 24th of July Children's Parade for which we have taken part for the past 2 years.

Gotta love any neighborhood parade where horses show up

Next year they should consider changing the name to "Neighborhood Bike Ride" since there were only 6 spectators who got a boat load of the taffy we had to throw.

We had fun nonetheless...and will likely participate in the parade for years to come (that is if we're invited again, after all, I just insulted their parade)

Shirley & Sherry

We had the opportunity to host these 2 12-year-old exchange students from Shanghai, China for a week.  Addy LOVED them and was so sad the morning they were leaving, this is the picture I got.

They were darling "big sisters" to my girls and they spent every minute in their room from the time they got home from school until it was time for bed. 

I did get a kick out of their "English" names, Shirley and Sherry.  Something just felt weird calling a 12-year-old Shirley, but maybe that's just me.

We also had a minor incident where one of them didn't put the shower curtain inside the shower and we had some flooding in the bathroom which led to flooding in the basement.  Forgot to show them that one detail. 

I think they must have been told to "eat everything" because they did not leave the table until their plates were clean.  I kept telling them they didn't have to eat it all, but they didn't budge.

Before they left, they wanted me to take them shopping for souvinirs for their family.  Sherry wanted to get her Dad a hat, kind of a fadora-type.  He said that America made the best hats, so we looked everywhere.  Problem was, every single hat we found had a "Made in China" tag.  Seriously?!  I was kind of embarrassed after the 4th store.  She settled on a Utah ball cap that was "Made in Vietnam" that was well-hidden so I don't think she saw it.  So, some random Chinese man is walking around Shanghai with his "well-made American" Ute hat.  Shame on us America.  I'm sure the BYU hats were made here.  :-)

Fun with Friends at Bear Lake

Our friends, The Gunns, have a sweet cabin right on the lake.  We got invited to an improptu weekend getaway and jumped at the chance.

Boat naps are the best!

These are 2 out of the 3 ladies I have the opportunity to serve with in the Primary Presidency.  We definitely missed Kristin and her family!

Random Thoughts About This Pregnancy

• 14 weeks.  Baby is due January 19th.  We all have odd month and odd day birthdays...so this baby better not think it can break with Eberhardt tradition.
• I had Addy in the Fall, London in the Spring, and baby #3 will be Winter.  Fun for trivia, but difficult when sharing baby clothes.
• Addy and London are exactly 2 years and 8 months apart.  London and baby #3 will be exactly 2 years and 8 months apart.  Just happened.
• With 2 C-sections due to 2 breech baby girls, I have a doctor who will possibly do a VBAC with baby #3...that is, IF it can find the right way out.  Anyone had a VBAC?  Should I just stick with what I know?  I kind of like the idea of being able to continue to jump rope and box jump without wetting my pants.
• Luckily, this pregnancy has been like my other two...breezy.  No sickness, been able to continue working out, just a smidge tired with a headache here and there.  I may or may not deny totally craving hot dogs, macaroni and cheese from the box, and green beans from the can.  I also may or may not deny the fact that I am a dietitian after writing that. Embarrassing, and totally gross (to non-pregnant Miki)!
• Since my "maternal instincts" totally failed me with London, who I would have put money on the fact that I thought she was a boy, we are just planning on baby #3 being a girl until proven otherwise.

The Dinosaur Museum was having a Pirate Party to celebrate it's 4th birthday, so we decided to crash the party.

Orange Crush

It's official...I'm a soccer mom.

We decided to give the short summer soccer season a whirl...no Saturday games. 

Despite being a rather timid player, Addy is having a great time.

Kennecott Copper Mine

It was "admission is free" week at the Kennecott Copper Mine, so seeing that we live as close as we do and have never been, we recruited our cousins Graham and Finley and decided to get a closer look at the "volcano."

Not sure why it's so hard to get a picture of 4 kids looking at a camera, but it's very obvious why I pay an arm and a leg to get family pictures done.

We finally got on the big tour bus, provided during "free week" and we were off.

Happy 4th of July!

We enjoyed the 1st (hopefully annual) Neighborhood Patriotic Parade.

We enjoyed drinks and donuts at the end as well as a nice fire hose to cool everyone off.

Does Jesus Swim?

A conversation with Addy.

Me:  Hey Addy, Abby is coming to babysit you and she is going to take you to the pool.

Addy:  Does Abby have a swimming suit?

Me:  Yes.

Addy:  How do you know?

Me:  Well, most people have swimming suits.

Addy:  Uh, not Jesus. 

Then later that night, she added Santa Claus to the list of people who likely do not own a swimming suit.
