Frienemies

Disclosure: In the hopes that one day I make my blog a book, I had to steal these pictures from Jenni's blog.

Addy and my niece Annie, 3 months apart.
They usually either love each other or hate each other.
Luckily as of late, they've been good friends and play well together.
We are putting them in a dance class together this fall...should make for some fun stories (refer back to posts about swimming lessons & kindermusik)

Dear Ruby

Of all the cute, entertaining, educational, less-annoying kid shows out there, why is it that my daughter is always asking for you and Max? You drive me crazy! You're voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard. And where in the world are your parents? They probably got sick of listening to you too and high-tailed it out of there. How old is Max anyway? He can only say one word over and over again...so my guess would be 18 months old. And do you just send an 18-month-old to the store or to the mall by himself? Please. What kind of big sister are you?

Oops, I think I may have just accidentally erased all episodes from my DVR. Can't take it anymore.

Dora, you may have just become my new hero. Swiper no swiping!

Happy Anniversary!

It was 6 years ago, on August 2nd, that I married Jonathan--bad haircut and all. Jonathan was riding in the Tour of Park City on Saturday, so we were thinking we would use some Marriott points and spend the night. Well, we got a call from the timeshare Westgate up at the Canyons resort wanting to know if we wanted to come listen to their sales presentation for a free night and $50 cash. Well, could we have it the night of August 1st? Sure. Our plan was set in motion.

Now, I love big gifts and flowers and diamonds...don't get me wrong...but I like the challenge of sticking to a budget for bigger and better things (family car--did I just say that was better than diamonds--gasp!) So, we were planning on our free night, a nice dinner, and some peace and quiet without Addy.

Jonathan did a great job on his ride which was 100 miles and climbed _____ vertical feet over many mountains. (I'll go ahead and let Jonathan fill in the details...all I know is he called me at 1 pm--when he thought he may get done to say that they likely still had a couple hours to go. I think his exact words between heavy breathing were, "This is an a** kicker!" )

So, I just enjoyed shopping at the outlets with my 30% off coupon at Gap for Addy's fall wardrobe. He finished around 3:30 pm, check-in for the free room was at 4:00 pm, and by 4:30 pm we were both starving. Not wanting to deal with the hassle of parking around Main Street due to the Arts Festival (Barney's daughter), we headed over to NewPark where we ended up at Cafe Rio.

This is where the fun started. After realizing I had enough stamps to get a free meal, with our $50 cash from the timeshare presentation, we could actually make money on this weekend. I already had $10 going to the babysitter who watched Addy until Dani picked her up. (Luckily, Dani didn't charge us.) $10 for a meal and drink at Cafe Rio. Ice cream was $10. We went to the grocery store to get some food for breakfast in the morning, $15. So add that up and we came out only spending $45. Some may say we're cheap, but I got great satisfaction out of that. (Of course we are not including Addy's fall wardrobe or the $15 race t-shirt Jonathan bought because that would mess up my story)

Anyway, I had a great time with my husband of 6 years...just that was all I needed. Can't wait to see what the next 6 bring.

At Least She Tells the Truth

So, Addy's toilet was clogged today. I was cursing her love of wiping with LARGE amounts of toilet paper while plunging, but to no avail because water just kept pouring over the top of the toilet.

When she walked in the bathroom I asked, "Addy, did you flush something down the toilet besides wipes?"

Her response: "Yep, a ducky."

Awesome. Still don't have a working toilet....to be continued.
**UPDATE**Plumber + $49 later = working toilet. Didn't have to take the toilet off, just used the auger to push it through. Anyone have any jobs that a 3 year old can do to make money? She is kind of becoming expensive!

Only thing I can take credit for is making the baby.
