Addy's First Dance Recital

They did a darling tap dance called, "Ellie the Elf"

Annie, Addy, Emmy (cute cousins)

cute costumes!
Addy actually danced (I'll try to post video) and did a great job! We were sure grateful for the slightly older, more coordinated girl who was strategically placed in the center so that all the girls could watch her and remember what the heck they were doing. When it was all over and we were going to pick up our kids off the stage, I may have yelled at some mom that due to her haste, totally body-checked Addy to the ground which left her with a shiner for a couple days. I may have used a swear word or two, and I may not be really proud about that, but I really don't feel too bad. It may have felt kinda good to actually speak my mind rather than say, "It's okay, she's fine."
This was not only Addy's first dance recital, but also her dad's first recital too. Growing up in a family with 4 boys, not much opportunity to be exposed to this art. I, on the other hand, have participated in a few. This show, however, was fantastic. It was just over an hour, had entertaining Christmas music for the dancers, and flowly nicely. It was at Riverton High School, so it was close and convenient for us west-siders. Cons: There weren't enough seats for all in attendance and there was 1 small music issue, but all in all, it was great!
So, we get out to the car after it was all over, and my darling, dance-recital viewing virgin husband says,
"Oh man! Tiffany (the director) is going to get it from the parents. She's going to be in so much trouble."
Me: (processing, processing) Why?
Jonny: Because it was so crowded and then they had to go get the back-up music...
Me: Uh, yeah. That's no big deal. Most dance recitals are like 3 hours long and really far away and really boring.
Jonny: oh.
He can't wait for the spring recital. :-)
I think I'll go pull out some old Coug videos and have him watch me in all my glory.
