London's New Do

So, London and her two friends Jill & Luke came over to play.  They were all playing in the basement.  I was upstairs feeding Ethan when they found some scissors in Addy's art box.  The next thing I know London and Jill came walking up the stairs with all their hair cut off!

My first reaction was to laugh...I was just totally in shock!  Here's the line-up.

Luke did some serious layering.

This is where the bloodbath took place.  For some reason, all the ponies made it through unscathed.

We took the girls to get their hair fixed together.  The stylists agreed that it was quite bad, but they had seen worst.  At least we didn't have to buzz their heads.

I felt the worst for little Jill Jill.  See that really long strand down her back?  Yep, that's how long her beautiful hair was.  There are so many things I wish I could do differently...remove scissors, have kids play upstairs by me, etc. but the reality is, it happened and I am reminded of my mistake as the "parent" in charge of "watching" these kids everytime I see cute Jill.

Marianne and I joke that from here on out our timeline will be framed by, "Did that happen BEFORE the haircut or AFTER the haircut?"

First time I've ever had the clippers pulled out for my daughters' hair.

Final result...she's still pretty darn cute in my opinion.

Jill was a little worried that she would be made fun of in nursery or preschool (yes, she is that aware and articulate at 3 years old), but since her big, fellow short-haired friend is in all those same classes, I don't think it will be a problem.  :-)

A cute apology note from our little buddy Luke

At the end of the day I have learned a few lessons:

1. I have been blessed with great, kind, understanding neighbors for which I am especially grateful for their kind and understanding hearts.
2.  It's just hair and it will grow back...eventually.
3.  Don't assume all scissors to be where you think they are.
