Fun with Friends

We spent the weekend in St. George with the Gunns and Olsens.  Jonathan and I have been wanting to hike Angels' Landing in Zions for some time, but we always had kiddos around.  Kiddos and massive drop-offs don't mix so well.  We started pretty early and it was still pretty chilly.

But after a few of these switchbacks, the sweatshirts came off and the posers came out.

Nerd.

Don't do it!  You've got so much to look forward to.
I actually laid down next to him until I said, "I wonder how strong this ledge is?" and then I scared myself and got right back up.

Drop-offs on both sides.  I had white knuckles on that chain the whole way up.
Gospel parallel anyone?

Sing with me now, "I'm on the (pause) top of the world lookin' (pause) down on creation..."

After some scary icy & snowy spots, we successfully made it to the top, and it was gorgeous!

So then on the way down, this ginormous bird flew right over us.   After we walked down further, we found it perched on the rock and discovered (from other Discovery-watching-hikers that it was actually a California Condor).

So after we got lots of pictures from far away, we decided to see how close we could get.

Yep, they got close and luckily walked away with both eyes.

The rest of the time we spent at the pool.  We stayed in my uncle's awesome condo (thanks again Jason & Shelley) which is an 8-unit building, and we were the only ones at building and the pool the whole time.  75 degrees, sigh.

I don't think I've laughed so hard in a LONG time...thanks to these ladies.

I had such a great time with my cute husband.  Love my kids, but sometimes it's just nice to leave them home.  (Thanks Jenni, Sandi, & Mom)

  1. Awesome. Love the giant bird on the head. And I thought it was some large vulture waiting for someone to fall off the cliff!

(btw i picked up your newspapers while you were gone and had every intention on running them over to you when you got back but i went to ephraim on sunday and by the time i got back i figured it was all old news to you!...just incase you were wondering where your papers went! )
