Sister Friendly

Hey good lookin'.
Shout out to Ann Varner.
For any of you who grew up in the Union 5th Ward, I'm sure you remember Ann as Sister Friendly. It was my favorite time in Primary. When I got put in the presidency, I knew I had to bring Sister Friendly back. So, here she is! Notice the rolled knee highs. . . and the bright coral lipstick. It's a riot! Thanks Ann.

  1. I love the outfit! And I remember loving Sister Friendly too, except it was always a little disappointing because my parents couldn't afford the magazine (us and a few other kids in primary) so we never got to participate. Just be sure to make copies or something available to kids who don't get the magazine in their home -- I wish my presidency growing up had done that. It was always such a letdown.

  2. You are hilarious!! What a hot mama! We only had "Brother Friendly" growing up in primary, I guess we weren't lucky enough to have a "Sister Friendly". I bet the kids loved you.

  4. Oh this post is a blessing! I just got called as Sister Friendly yesterday and I'm a little clueless. Then I googled and found your post! So far in our ward, Sister Friendly has just been someone normal to do sharing time once a month, but when I first heard about it, I envisioned just what your picture looked like, although maybe with a big hat! What are the "guidelines" for the calling? is there anywhere to find more info? What do you do? TIA!

  5. Carrie--
I saw from your profile that you live in Santa Clarita--we just moved from Valencia last year. We were in the Stevenson Ranch ward and miss it terribly.
Anyway, no guidelines really. I just read the Friend every month and then ask the kids questions about various stories, etc. I make them much easier for the jr. than the sr. primary. I also ask quite a few questions that the kids could answer even if they didn't read the friend. Sometimes I do a game or an activity that's in the magazine too. If the kids get the answers right, I have something in my basket that they receive, i.e. stickers, magnets, etc. It's a blast!
