This is a picture of Addy when she was 4 weeks old. The striped blanket has been her "blankie" ever since. It is from Target, but they now no longer sell them. Does anyone have an extra one lying around that they don't use or that their child doesn't care about? Why, you ask?
Well, on Saturday, we took Trax downtown to meet up with Jonathan's parents and his brother's family to have dinner and look at the lights. All in all, it was a crazy chaotic night, as to be expected when you combine Addy with a restaurant and a stroller. Never a good combo. It just reminded us that a babysitter is ALWAYS worth the money. Anyway, after looking at the lights with the rest of the Salt Lake Valley, we took our ornery, squirmy daughter back on the train to get home. I figured out that Addy is closterphobic. Not the most opportune time to figure it out, when you get on the train with the rest of the state of Utah going home from either looking at the lights or leaving the Jazz game. We, luckily, got seats, but Addy still cried and screamed until about the 39th south stop when the train finally started to clear out a bit. (We'd like to go ahead and apologize to all those people on our train. Don't any of you have cars for heaven's sake?!?) At every stop, she would try to make a run for the doors. We had our hands full with a stroller, winter clothes, bag of snacks, blankets, purse, etc. (Who in their right mind would have the brilliant idea of riding TRAX downtown the Saturday after Thanksgiving?!?! Uh, me. Who married the most kind, patient man who never once rubbed that very poor decision in my face? Me!)
Anyway, back to the blanket. When we FINALLY made it to 90th south, I thought we grabbed everything and we were out of there! Well, I either left her blanket on the train or dropped it somewhere between the platform and our car and didn't notice until we were home. While Addy seems to be okay with it, I feel horrible everytime I put her down for a nap or for bed and she says, "Rainbow blankie?" I say, "I'm sorry Addy..." She finishes my sentence by saying, "Mommy, train." Yep, I left your little blankie on that blasted train.
So, since Target no longer makes this precious little gem, if any of you happened to purchase one and don't use it at all, I'd be happy to buy it from you and redeem myself as the greatest Mom ever!
I have that exact same blanket in the boy version (blue, green, white). Same softness. Same shape. Same brand. If Addy would feel okay about having a boy version, I would be more than happy to mail it to you (still in the wrapping, never been used) at no cost.
ReplyDeleteI feel for you. If one of my little boys ever lost their lovies (stuffed animals), we would be in for it!
You can email me at jessiepond@yahoo.com if you want it.
I have one. You want it?
ReplyDeleteA little girl in my nursery class has the exact same blanket and brings it with her every week...I could steal it. :)
ReplyDeleteGood thing Addy doesn't live in Hong Kong and ride the trains here...she would be HATING life.
She looks so old in the gingerbread pics. I love that big cheeser grin!!
When I realized that Wyatt loved his Target blankie (a different one than Addy's) I went back and bought 2 more so I could rotate them through the wash. Sometimes he finds all three and carries all of them around at once. They are all pretty yellow around the edges so I looked online once to see if I could find one anywhere since Target stopped carrying it--evil Target. I found a "gently used" one on ebay for $35! Yeah right!!!
ReplyDeleteMy brother's little girl had a pink "dao-dao" that was worn to shreds--the border had been re-sewn on several times because the blanket was literally thread bare. Steve had even gone to the park after 10pm with a flashlight once to find it because she needed it that much. One day, while at Target, he took her over to the blanket isle and said "Look at all these other dao-daos." She looked at hers a bit disgusted at its appearance and said, "I want that one" and got a brand new dao-dao. Steve was shocked at how easy it was.
Sorry for the super long comment and I'm glad you have already been offered another one.
It looks like you already found one, but in case you ever need another one, Carter's makes one that's similar to the one you got at Target.

Thanks everybody! You are the best! My sister-in-law Lindsay is sending me hers from Oklahoma.
ReplyDeleteHey Miki,
ReplyDeleteIt's Angie (Allen) Krog. Hope you don't mind that I peeked at your blog. I found you on Hanna's. I can relate to this post! My little Scotty has a little stuffed puppy that is pretty much a member of our family. We don't know what we'd do without him (Arfy). We can't find any more and we've looked everywhere. Anyway, after several incidents that were much to close to losing our Arfy we finally decided that Arfy is just not aloud to leave the house. We bought a replacement puppy, not Arfy, but Spot. And we bought four of him! Spot can go anywhere. We already lost one in Disneyland so we're down to three. He's not too attached to spot, but he'll do for trips out and then hopefully by the time we lose all four, he'll be over it all together. Glad you found a replacemet! Your family is darling! My blog is private, but if you're interested in checking us out email me and I'll invite you. angiebokrog@yahoo.com
Take care!!
