My friend Kristin gave me the genius idea of using the Switch Witch. The night after you are all done trick-or-treating, you put your bucket of candy outside your door and then the switch witch comes and takes your candy and switches it for a toy. Well, when Addy heard about this, she was SO EXCITED and I LOVED the idea of not having to barter with Addy about how many pieces of candy she could have nor pick up wrappers everywhere around my house.
So, the plan was in place. But as Addy's bucket of candy got fuller and fuller Halloween night, she wasn't quite as excited about giving it all away to the switch witch. So by bedtime, she had decided against the whole idea much to my dismay. I knew that if this tradition wasn't established this year, it would be a hard one to establish ever.
I woke up Sunday morning with the wheels turning in my head. I figured a little competition among siblings may help her change her mind. So, I had the Switch Witch come to London.
Addy woke up and saw London's pillow pet sitting on the counter and was so excited. She decided right then to give her candy to the Switch Witch. And what do you know, she stopped by while we were at church.
2 happy girls and 1 big bucket of candy in my closet.
That is such a great idea! I'm going to have to give it a shot!! I guess that makes for 3 happy girls, right? YOU scored all of the candy ;)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant...I'm using this one day when we live in a place where we actually get enough candy to merit a "switch witch".
ReplyDeleteI know this is off the subject but, we have those same jammies! We should get Sunny and London together for a pic sometime.
ReplyDeleteThe Switch-Witch dropped by our house too. I guess I know what our trick-or-treaters will be getting next year, thanks to my deep freezer.
what a GREAT idea! love it.
