Lotoja 2007

Jonny competed in his first Lotoja which is a bike race from Logan to Jackson--206 miles, 4 canyons, just under 12 hours of riding. He did such a great job . . . way to go Jonny! Jonathan's brother, Chad, also competed so his wife, Rachel and I were the support. We would have to drive to each stopping point and wait until they came through, give them their food, water, etc. and them pack back up and drive to the next stop. It was a lot of time in the car, but we had a great time together (footnote: not entirely true...see below for more details).

So here is where the footnote comes in. On the Top Ten Mistakes I've Made as a Mother, taking Addy on this excursion ranks right up there as one or two! Why? Hmm, well, just take a look at this face:

Addy and I left Herriman at 7:30 am Saturday morning and pretty much were in the car until 6:00 pm with a few support stops. But we had no time for Addy to get down and play and crawl around. She slept for 45 minutes in the car at around 9 am, but after that--she was crying, whining, wimpering, etc for about 6 hours straight! And then . . .

She puked! All over herself and her carseat. So, we took her out, stripped her down, did our best to clean off the carseat (Thanks Rach!) and got back on the road again. Mmm, mmm, mmm--nothing like riding in a car that smells like puke. I think she was carsick . . . and I can't blame her.

Finally! She fell asleep until we got to the finish line.

Note to self: NEVER TAKE ADDY AGAIN!

  2. Sounds like a cool race. I'm so sorry Addy was sick! Throw up is simply never fun. At least she looked super darling at the finish line!
