After a LONG week without Jonathan and an under-the-weather Addy (read: especially whiney) it was so nice to finally have him home. I tried to take Addy swimming at LifeTime after work on Friday and she just freaked out. She normally LOVES swimming, so I assumed she was super tired, packed her flailing body up and drove home. By the time we were 2 minutes from LifeTime, she was asleep. So, I put her down for her nap with Jonathan home and left to go grocery shopping by myself. Hallelujah! On the way home, Jonathan called to say that Addy woke up and was waiting for me. When I opened the door, here she was all ready.
While I got a good laugh. I had already changed in and out of a swimsuit once that day and had a car full of groceries I had to unpack. Jonathan then mentioned that he had about another 1/2 hour of work to do before he could take her swimming. So there I was with a single-track minded one year old who was screaming at me to go swimming as I was trying to unload the car and put the groceries away. Then, as if she hadn't all ready lost it, she pooped in her swim diaper and I had to change her. Ballistic would be a good word to describe Addy as I tried to change her because I had to take off the precious swim gear. I was done. Doing everything in my power to not completely lose it. I envisioned myself throwing objects at walls and screaming at the top of my lungs. Just then Jonathan came in, saw me and my expression, and quickly took Addy to the pool.
i can so relate to those moments. linc has been a real piece of work the past two days. i think ballistic runs in the eberhardt genes! linc went nuts today when i wouldn't let him use the breat pump. nice.
ReplyDeleteThat's only funny because I've been in practically the exact same situation before! I love how excited she looks in that picture.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun story! Ya, nice comment, Liz. Fun? Whatever! It's just nice to hear that other moms have those moments too. Sheez, they are so strong willed at this age. And that word doesn't even come close to describing it. Let's do a swim playgroup again!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great story and a great picture! I love that going to the grocery store by ourselves counts as a break!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good daddy! I can totally relate to the throwing objects thing!!
